A European Union anti-dumping committee voted on Wednesday to impose import duties of up to 87 percent on steel fasteners from China.
Troubled by the possibility of the EU's anti-dumping ruling, the China Industrial Fastener Association, representing 47 fastener makers, appealed to the Ministry of Commerce on Nov 30, asking for the case to be brought to the World Trade Organization (WTO).
According to the WTO's official website, China has not filed a notice of appeal on the EU anti-dumping ruling. China's Ministry of Commerce has not commented on the EU's latest decision.
The European Voice reported that the duties will affect annual imports, that were valued at 575 million euros ($733.47 million) in 2007. The products concerned include bolts, screws and washes used in variety of goods.
