The first phase of quake relief, in which rescuing lives was the priority, was finished 12 days after a 7.1-magnitude earthquake struck Yushu in Northwest China's Qinghai province, and reconstruction of the area was ready to begin, chinanews.com.cn reported Sunday.

The Ministry of Civil Affairs called in experts on Sunday to examine the losses, and a team of Ministry of Commerce members went to the scene of the quake to provide quake-relief support.

As of 12 pm Sunday, 200 commercial outlets had restored operations in Yushu, increasing by nearly 100 from Saturday. Reconstruction at the Yushu airport is also ongoing.
