Chinese embassy in Russia donates to quake victims

MOSCOW - Personnel from the Chinese Embassy in Russia on Sunday donated some US$10,591 in one hour to victims of the devastating earthquake in northwestern China that claimed at least 1,700 people.

During the donation, embassy officials expressed willingness to make their own contribution to the rescue and relief work of the Yushu earthquake, and voiced hope that those who were affected by the disaster could weather the hard time and rebuild their home under the leadership of China and with the support of people all across the country.

The 7.1-magnitude quake struck the Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Yushu in Qinghai Province early Wednesday.
