Beijing mobile army hospital rushes to Yushu

A Beijing mobile army hospital that worked to save lives in the Wenchuan earthquake will send 176 rescuers to the quake-hit Yushu prefecture of Qinghai, a press official at a Beijing military unit revealed to China Daily on Friday morning.

The rescue soldiers will arrive in Yushu Saturday, where 243 missing and 11,477 injured people are still waiting to be rescued after the 7.1-manitude earthquake.

The 255 mobile hospital unit from Beijing military area owns advanced rescue equipment, and their rescuer soldiers have a wealth of experience, said Xu Qingyun, deputy director of the Beijing military unit’s press department.

Xu said they were honored “the boat of life” by people of Mianzhu for their excellent disaster relief work in the southwestern Chinese city that was badly struck by the May 12 earthquake in Sichuan province.

The mobile unit will start off from Tangshan, a northern Chinese city, to Qinghai.
