Party members urged to contribute to disaster relief

BEIJING - The Communist Party of China has ordered its members in the quake-hit Yushu county of Qinghai Province to contribute to quake-relief efforts in places hit hardest by a 7.1-Magnitude earthquake.

The Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee said in a statement issued Wednesday night that organization departments of local CPC committees should mobilize CPC members and leaders to go into disaster relief quickly and they should spare no effort to save lives and rescue people trapped in quake debris.

Party leaders should go to the frontline and lead people to relieve the disaster, said the statement.

The Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee also decided to allocate a certain amount of party member to help relieve the disaster and help people affected by the earthquake.
