Macao airport reports steady growth in air traffic in October
MACAO -- Air traffic at Macao International Airport (MIA) continued to grow in October, with 610,000 passenger volume during the month, an increase of 20 percent year-on-year, according to the MIA on Tuesday.
The flights volume also rose by 16 percent year-on-year to 5,100. The Southeast Asian market continues to perform well in October, taking up 43 percent of the overall market, followed by the Chinese mainland and China's Taiwan, accounting for 32 percent and 25 percent respectively.
From January to October in 2017, a total of 5.86 million passengers travelled through the MIA, an increase of 6.5 percent compared with the same period last year.
The passenger volume of the Chinese mainland route increased by 12 percent, followed by Southeast Asia route and China's Taiwan route, an increase of 8 percent and a decrease of 2.7 percent respectively.
In October this year, there were 30 airlines operating at the MIA, connecting Macao to 47 cities with about 1,100 weekly scheduled flights.
