An "intelligent" electric streetcar equipped with GPS and fourth-generation mobile internet has been unveiled at an ongoing international rail transportation exposition in Central China's Hunan province, Changsha Evening News reported on Thursday.

The 32.6-meter-long streetcar, named Xianfeng, was developed by China Railway Signal and Communication Corp.

The company said the streetcar is the first of its kind, furnished with technology that enables it to be merged into a city's intelligent transportation system and provide passengers with information on the weather forecast as well as shopping or travel tips.

Each streetcar can carry 370 passengers at a maximum speed of 70 kilometers per hour. Its competitiveness also lies in its lower energy consumption and environmental friendliness, the company said on its website.
