The World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies will celebrate its 30th anniversary this year, marking a new beginning to go global.

The organization was established with nine founding member countries and regions on November 2, 1987, and now has more than 200 corporate members and 18 working committees, along with more than 100,000 acupuncture personnel across the globe.

The societies established the non-governmental organization relations with the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1998 and then an A-tier liaison relationship with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

As part of the 30th anniversary celebration, the ninth congress of World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies & 2017 international acupuncture forum will be held in Beijing from December 2 to 4. A biennial award will also be given to those who make extraordinary contributions to the organization, enabling the development of world acupuncture.

The World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies plans to build acupuncture museums around the world, both in the entity and digital form, since traditional Chinese medicine science has become famous after being listed as the United Nations intangible cultural heritage in 2010.

Moreover, a website and an app will be launched during the conference to provide platforms on sharing acupuncture courses all over the world.
