Anti-graft agency planning to investigate suspect in SW China shooting
BEIJING -- The disciplinary arm of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Panzhihua City Committee is planning to launch an investigation into a shooting incident in this Southwest China city last week, an official said Monday.
Zhu Guoxian, chief of the publicity department of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) made the announcement when answering questions at a press conference in the State Council Information Office.
The police is investigating the case, Zhu said, adding that authorities in Sichuan Province will release information in a timely manner.
The shooting incident took place at a conference and exhibition center in the city on Wednesday, injuring the city's Party chief and mayor.
The suspect, who was identified as the city's land and resources chief Chen Zhongshu, committed suicide after the shooting.
