China, Russia to promote military cooperation
Developing a Sino-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership not only benefits the two countries and their people, but also represents a need for maintaining regional and world peace as well as promoting international fairness and justice, a senior Chinese official said.
Yu Zhengsheng, China's top political advisor, made the remarks during his meeting with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu in Beijing on Wednesday, adding that 2016 marks the 15th anniversary of signing the Sino-Russian Good-Neighborly Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation, and the 20th anniversary of the establishment of strategic partnership of coordination.
With vigorous support from top leaders, China-Russia relations are at an all-time high, Yu said, stressing that China attaches great importance to deepening friendly and practical cooperation between the two countries' militaries.
China is willing to strengthen mutual strategic trust, facilitate exchanges and cooperation in various areas, work to achieve each nation's developmental goals and jointly promote world peace, stability and growth, Yu said.
Shoigu said developing a Sino-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership is a priority for Russian diplomacy. Close contact between top leaders is an important guarantee for high quality cooperation between militaries.
Russia will uphold the consensus reached by top leaders and actively promote cooperation with the Chinese military, the Russian defense minister added.
