Beijing starts collecting emblem designs for 2022 Winter Games
BEIJING - Beijing started to collect emblem designs for both 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic games on Sunday.
Designers from Beijing universities were the first to submit their works, with many more designed expected both online and offline in the coming 10 days.
Beijing launched a worldwide campaign to seek designs for the emblems at an event held to celebrate the first anniversary of the successful bid for the 2022 Olympic Games in late July.
"The designs should embody Chinese culture and the Olympic movement," said Zhao Wei, an official from Beijing 2022 Organizing Committee.
A selection panel will pick 10 candidate designs from the applications, before the Beijing 2022 Organizing Committee choose one winning entry and two as back-up designs.
The winner of the designs will be announced in the second half of 2017.
