China has completed an architecture and development plan for a next generation intelligent transportation system, the chief engineer of the Ministry of Transport's think tank announced on Friday in Shanghai.
China recently released the Promotion Plan of ITS Development by Carrying Forward Internet Plus Convenient Transport, which was jointly issued by the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Transport.
"It is the first national-level ITS master plan covering all aspects of an integrated transportation system. The plan sets a 10-year development goal which is aimed at establishing an intelligent transport system and ITS infrastructure, standards and technology, creating an effective environment for ITS development," said Wang Xiaojing, director of the National Center of Intelligent Transportation Systems and chief engineer of the Ministry of Transport's Research Institute of Highway.
Wang made the remark at the Third APEC Internet of Vehicles Symposium.
He also said that the implementation of ITS will be central to the development of transportation in China.
