Woman who pretended father died in Tianjin blast held

A woman in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region was arrested on suspicion of fraud after soliciting donations online by pretending to be a victim of the Tianjin port blast.

Yang Cailan made up a story on her Sina Weibo that her father had died in the Aug 12 explosion. An investigation found that she made up the story but updated her "sadness" with long blogs and sought compensation through online transactions. Within two hours, she collected 96,576.44 yuan from 3,856 other Weibo users.
