Visit to strengthen Sino-Latin America ties

China will strengthen ties with Latin America and Caribbean States, said Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

President Xi Jinping will attend the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) summit in Brazil and visit some Latin American countries this year.

The Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) approved a special statement to extend support for the establishment of a China-CELAC forum at the organization's latest summit, seeking to hold the forum's first meeting within 2014.
