BEIJING - Two Chinese naval vessels are searching for five fishermen who went missing after their boat sank in waters near the Diaoyu Islands on Friday morning, according to a source with the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy.
Ten people were aboard the trawler Minxiayu 01003, which took on water while it was fishing. Five of them have been rescued by a nearby vessel.
Two military vessels from China's East Sea Fleet, Yiyang and Sanming, have arrived at the scene to rescue the missing sailors, according to the source.
