Potential migrants to Australia can use their TOEFL score for the immigration application based on the country's Skill Select System from this week.
The Australian government approved the test on May 26.
Test results for TOEFL were previously eligible for school and university applications only. With the change, applicants from around the world can use TOEFL results to apply for student visas, employment visas or business visas to Australia.
"We were very pleased that ETS now have the chance to work with Australia and our testing system can be applied to other areas besides education," said David Payne, vice-president of ETS global education center.
Students in Australia will be able to apply for graduate visas as well as post-study visas using their TOEFL scores. Most higher education institutions already accept TOEFL scores for applications.
