BISHKEK - The Chinese delegation to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit set up a press center here Wednesday to help meet expected high demand for briefings and other media services.
"International and domestic media attach great importance to Chinese President Xi Jinping's first attendance at a SCO summit and have a great demand for information," said Wu Peng, deputy director-general of the Foreign Ministry's Information Department.
Wu, who is in charge of the press center, said it would help journalists, especially Chinese journalists, cover Xi's activities at the summit.
Among those scheduled to provide briefings are Zhang Xinfeng, director of the Executive Committee of the Regional Anti-Terrorism Agency of the SCO, Chinese Commerce Minister Gao Hucheng, and Science and Technology Minister Wan Gang will give interviews. Vice Foreign Minister Cheng Guoping would brief the media on its conclusion Friday, Wu said.
The media center is on the second floor of Ak Keme Hotel, where the summit's main press center is also located.
