Children under the age of 12 will not be allowed to sit in the front of a car for safety reasons, according to the draft amendment of the Shanghai Minors Protection Regulation, the Oriental Morning Post reported.

Parents who take children under the age of 4 in their vehicle must put them in child safety seat, according to the draft amendment that was discussed by the Standing Committee of the Shanghai People’s Congress on Thursday.

Managers of bars, karaoke bars, game centers and Internet cafes must place a sign at the entrance that states clearly that minors are not allowed to enter, according to the draft.

The draft also states that parents cannot leave a preschool-age child alone at home, and some members of the standing committee suggested extending the age to 10.
