The Supreme People's Court on Friday asked courts at all levels to examine their implementation of the Eight-Point Code from this month until January next year.
The code, passed by the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee in December 2012, aims to cut bureaucracy and strengthen ties with the people.
The notice issued by the high court said that the inspections should focus on six general areas, to include the improvement of discipline and working style; identifying malpractice; cutting the number of meetings and files; and perfecting rules to reduce spending on overseas trips, vehicles and banquets.
Courts across the country were asked to perform the self-examination.
Meanwhile, the Supreme People's Court and high and intermediate people's courts will create a joint inspection team to carry out random checks on courts in various jurisdictions, the notice said.
