Alstom Hydro China, the hydroelectric division of the French conglomerate's unit in China, is expected to increase production capacity and its research and development level in 2013, company officials said

The company's new Tianjin facility, when it is finished in May, will be Alstom's largest hydroelectric facility worldwide, and will address local, regional and export markets.

In July, Alstom Hydro will also finish the construction of its global technology center in Tianjin, which will be Alstrom's largest such facility in the world. The center will support its hydroelectric business growth in China and abroad, officials said.

With the operation of its new global technology center, Alstom will become a full value chain entity in China, carrying out a vast array of hydroelectric activities, including R&D, sales and marketing, engineering and installation, maintenance and service.

Alstom Hydro China delivered a record number of 12 hydroelectric units last year, all of which were designed and manufactured at the Tianjin facility, and delivered them to hydroelectric power plants across Asia, including Nuozhadu and Xiangjiaba in China, and Son La in Vietnam.

Over the past 10 years, the company has accumulated a 20 percent market share of the total installed capacity of large hydro equipments in China.

"Alstom will continue to play a major role in developing the hydro market in China and abroad while contributing to the social development inside and around its industrial site in Tianjin," said Yves Rannou, general manager of Alstom Hydro China.
