Deputy promotes environmental lottery

Lottery tickets should be issued to help raise funds for environmental protection, according to Chen Fei, a deputy from Eastern China's Zhejiang province.

Lack of funds has limited efforts to lower carbon emissions and protect the environment, Chen told reporters at the fifth annual session of the 11th National People's Congress (NPC). A lottery would raise funds, increase awareness, and add jobs, he said.

Last year, the world’s first environmental lottery was unveiled in UK, aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and limiting climate change.
