VIENTIANE - The Communist Party of China (CPC) will lead the cause of building socialism with Chinese characteristics to greater victories, says Lao Deputy Prime Minister Somsavat Lengsavad.
The Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) feels sincerely proud of the CPC's impressive achievements, said Somsavat, a member of the Political Bureau of the LPRP Central Committee, in a recent interview with Xinhua.
The party and state leaders of Laos, in their dealing with their Chinese counterparts and studying of the CPC's development over the past 91 years, are impressed by the CPC, he said.
"There are also valuable lessons to be learned from the impressive Chinese development process. The Chinese Communist Party has always impressed me with its bravery, loyalty and persistence," he said.
The Lao senior official noted that "earth-shaking changes" have taken place in China since 1978, making China one of the most powerful countries in the world.
He especially lauded the CPC's ability to adapt basic Marxist principles to China's realities and lead the Chinese people from success to success.
The friendship between the LPRP and the CPC, which dates back to Laos' anticolonial struggle, has become ever closer under the care of the two countries' leaders, including late Chairmen Mao Zedong and Kaysone Phomvihane, he said.
Meanwhile, Somsavat thanked China for its understanding, support and assistance, saying that the two parties are like brothers with common ideals and goals.
He also expressed his confidence that China's cause of building socialism with Chinese characteristics will achieve greater success under the CPC's leadership.
