YANGON, Myanmar - More than 40 Chinese companies and 100 Myanmar entrepreneurs met in Yangon, Myanmar's largest city, for business opportunities on May 15.

The forum was part of the 2012 China-Myanmar Brotherhood Tour organized by China NGO Network for International Exchanges (CNIE) and the China Foundation for Peace and Development (CFPD).

Aik Htun, chairman of Myanmar's International Business Promotion Center, said as Myanmar is in the process of democratic and economic reforms, it is carrying out a wide array of missions to improve its people's living standards and develop its economy. It is willing to contact more friends from East and West.

Li Jinjun, vice-chairman of CNIE as well as China's former ambassador to Myanmar, said the Chinese government has been putting a lot of efforts into China-Myanmar relations, but more efforts had taken place at the level of governments and officials in the past. Non-governmental relations, especially those between small-to medium-sized entrepreneurs, can generate more energy.

Chinese and Myanmar entrepreneurs divided themselves into small discussion groups for deeper conversation.
