Shenzhen government last year spent 625 million yuan ($98million) on receptions, vehicles and overseas trips, also known as “the three public consumptions”, according to a report submitted to a local legislator for review on Wednesday.

According to the report on budget spending in 2011, delivered at the 17th meeting of the fifth session of the Shenzhen People's Congress Standing Committee on Wednesday, the government spent 468 million yuan on vehicles, more than 70 percent of the total, China Business News reported on Thursday.

According to the report, it is the first time the Shenzhen government has released the three public consumptions. It quoted the city's finance committee as saying that the figures in 2011 are lower than 2010, and that each bureau would publicize their spending in this field on their homepages in near future.

In April the State Council demanded the provincial government publicize details of the three public consumptions within two years.
