GUANGZHOU - Operation at an airport in South China's Guangdong province resumed early Saturday morning, after a thunderstorm grounded more than 100 flights and stranded about 10,000 passengers, airport authorities said.

By 4:40 am, the airport has removed a mass delaying warning and the operation was back to track.

A thunderstorm that started mid Friday delayed 116 flights at the Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport for more than one hour and forced another 54 flights to be canceled, according to the airport.

The mass delay was the worst situation the airport had faced, stranding about 10,000 passengers, its operators said.
