BEIJING - An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale hit the sea area near the Hualien County of Taiwan at 5:43 am Monday (Beijing Time), according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.
The epicenter was monitored at 24.1 degrees north latitude and 122.3 degrees east longitude with a depth of about 8 kilometers, the center said.
