GUIYANG - A truck carrying bricks overturned on a road in southwest China Monday, leaving five people dead and eight injured, local officials said Tuesday.

The truck overturned in Sanhe township of Huairen city, Guizhou province, at about 7: 30 pm Monday. Police have detained the driver for investigation.

Details of the accident were not disclosed. Local officials said the injured have been hospitalized.
