BEIJING - China needs to further cooperate with other developing countries in the media fields through dialogue and exchanges, said a senior media official Wednesday.
Wang Chen, minister of the State Council Information Office, made the remarks at a welcoming reception of a seminar for ministers responsible for media affairs from developing countries.
Jointly held by China's State Internet Information Office and the Ministry of Commerce, the seminar receives 23 senior media officials from countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America, Europe and Oceania.
Communication and cooperation in media fields play an important role in fostering friendly relationship between China and other developing countries, added Wang.
"I hope the seminar can help further the depth of reporting and advance the cooperation and development of developing countries in the media fields," said Wang.
Governments worldwide need to conduct exchanges to eliminate misunderstandings and mistrust, Valeriu Turcan, spokesman for the President of Romania and concurrently head of the Public Communications Department, said in his speech at the seminar.
