HANGZHOU - A policeman who killed a person and injured two others while driving drunk was detained Friday in East China's Zhejiang province, local police said.
Guo Jiangjian, who worked at the Hengdian police station, is being held by the public security bureau in the city of Dongyang, which administers the police station.
On late Thursday, Guo, driving a private car, hit three pedestrians in Hengdian then fled the site but was captured later, said a spokesman with the public security bureau.
One of the three died after failing to respond to emergency treatment, while the other two remain hospitalized, said the spokesman.
Guo's blood test indicated he had 107 milligrams of alcohol per 100 milliliters of blood, 27 milligrams higher than the alcohol level defined as intoxication by Chinese law.
Two officials with the Hengdian police station have been suspended for lax supervision.
