The delegation will be made up of more than 20 businessmen, said a statement from the ARATS.

The main purpose of the delegation is to assess the investment environment and business opportunities on the island, so as to help mainland companies enter Taiwan and promote industrial cooperation, the statement said.

Members of the delegation will meet Taiwan business people and visit sea ports, industrial parks, enterprises and farmers' associations in Taipei, New Taipei City, Kaohsiung, Chiayi and Yunlin, it said.

This will be the first time for Chen to lead a business delegation to Taiwan. He has previously led delegations to the island for talks between ARATS and its Taiwan counterpart Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF).

The delegation is invited by SEF Chairman Chiang Pin-kung.
