Chinese He Pingping, the world's shortest man who stood just over 2.5 feet tall (75 centimeters), has died over the weekend in Rome, Guinness World Records said Monday. He was 21.

A native from northern Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, he was in Rome for a television show when he suffered chest problems.

He succumbed to heart complications on Saturday at a hospital, Britain’s Telegraph reported.

Guinness World Records said it would announce his successor as the world's shortest man in due course.
