China's Sept export up 11.8% month-on-month

China's export volume hit $115.9 billion in September alone, up 11.8 percent over the month before, but still down 15.2 percent from the same time last year, according to data released today by the General Administration of Customs of China.

Import volume hit $103 billion in September, up 17 percent over the month before, but down 3.5 percent compared with September 2008.

China's foreign trade volume in the first nine months this year had reached $1.56 trillion, down 20.9 percent from this time last year.

The country's export volume in the first three quarters reached $846.7 billion, down 21.3 percent from that of the same period last year and import volume hit 711.2 billion, down 20.4 percent year-on-year. Consequently the trade surplus decreased by 26 percent to $135.5 billion.

The bilateral trade volume between China and the European Union, China's largest trade partner reached $260 billion, down 19.4 percent year-on-year. The trade volume between China and the US, China's second largest trade partner hit $211.9 billion, down 15.8 percent year-on-year. The trade volume between China and Japan, China's third largest trade partner, was down 20 percent at $162.2 billion.
