Over $15 million donated to Taiwan

The Beijing-based Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS) has donated 106 million yuan (US$ 15.5 million) and 5 million Hong Kong dollars (US$640,000) to Taiwan to help with recovery efforts from Typhoon Morakot, ARATS announced in its press conference in Beijing on Wednesday.

At least 67 people were killed, 45 injured and 61 others remained missing in Taiwan as of Wednesday noon after Morakot, the worst typhoon to hit the region in nearly five decades, swept across the island.
