BEIJING - Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao Tuesday urged tougher prevention and punishment of corruption as China faces the most difficult year in economic development since the beginning of this century.

Various localities and departments should enhance supervision over corruption, regulate the use of executive power, tackle sticking problems that harm people's interests, and accelerate construction of the system to punish and prevent corruption to provide a solid guarantee for reform, development and stability, Wen told a conference on clean governance.
