During the conversation initiated by Lavrov, both sides agreed to take the opportunity of the 60th anniversary of China-Russia diplomatic ties to further move their strategic cooperative partnership forward by making joint efforts and enhancing exchanges and cooperation in various fields.

The two sides also exchanged views on the situation on the Korean Peninsula and hoped that all parties concerned maintain helpful contacts and show accommodations towards each other's position in an effort to safeguard peace and stability on the peninsula.

Yang is currently on a five-day visit to the United States, the first of its kind since the Obama administration took office in January.
