Hu leaves for Washington to attend financial summit

Chinese President Hu Jintao left Beijing Friday afternoon for Washington to attend a summit meeting on the global financial crisis scheduled for Saturday.

U.S. President George W. Bush had called for the meeting of the leaders of the Group of 20 largest developed and developing countries to find ways to deal with the current crisis.

Following the summit, President Hu Jintao will visit Costa Rica, Cuba and Peru. He will also attend the summit of Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation on November 22-23 in Peru. He will then pay a visit to Greece before flying back home.
