Senior official underlines further fight against corruption

SHIJIAZHUANG - He Guoqiang, secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has required local officials to further fight corruption, and promote the work on building a clean Party and a clean government to contribute to the country's reform and opening, and modernization drive.

He made the remarks during his inspection in north China's Hebei Province from May 6 to May 9.

He, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, said the aim of the anti-corruption work and the work on building a clean Party and promotion of clean governance is to  make new contributions to the implementation of the Scientific Outlook on Development and to the building of a moderately prosperous society in a comprehensive way.

He said the procedures to assess the performance of officials should be more strict and the assessment results should be fully used to judge the performance of officials, so as to promote the building of a clean Party and a clean government.

He asked to implement an accountability system for fighting corruption and building a clean Party and a clean government. Offences of Party rules will be dealt with harshly and officials involved will be investigated.

He encouraged local officials to maintain innovative spirit, so as to explore new methods to combat corruption.

While visiting local enterprises, He said enterprises should promote their innovation capability, and make efforts to ensure sound operation of enterprises and guarantee projects with high quality and efficiency. They should put anti-corruption into their general production and enterprise management.

He also visited local needy people and extended his care and concern for senior citizens who are supported by government assistance system. He said, "We feel relieved to see that you live a happy life and benefit from the achievements of reform and opening-up."

He also stressed that the anti-corruption efforts should be strengthened in rural grassroots Party organizations, so as to provide solid political foundation for building socialist new countryside.

He pointed out that open and transparent administrative power operation could effectively prevent corruption.

"We should live up to people's new expectation on the fight against corruption and rely on the masses of people to promote the building of a clean Party. We should really and truly guarantee the masses the right to know, to participate, to appraisal and to oversee relevant work," He said.
