President Hu to attend Boao Forum for Asia annual meeting

BEIJING -- Chinese President Hu Jintao will attend the opening ceremony of the annual meeting of the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA)on April 12 and deliver a keynote speech, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman announced here Thursday at a press briefing.

Jiang Yu said that foreign heads of states and government heads attending the forum's opening ceremony will include Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf, Mongolian President Nambaryn Enkhbayar, Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse, Tanzanian President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, Chilean President Michelle Bachelet Jeria, Tongan King Taufa'ahau Tupou V, Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt, Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Masimov, Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad Bin Jasim Bin Jabir Al-thani, and Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd.

The annual meeting will focus on environment-related talks to build a sustainable Asia.
The BFA was established in 2001 as a platform for high-level interaction between leaders from Asia and the world.
