HK policies proven completely correct(Xinhua)
Updated: 2007-12-24 23:32 Practice in the past 10 years has proved that the policies of "one country, two systems" and "Hong Kong governed by Hong Kong people" are completely correct. The people of the Hong Kong Special Administration Region (HKSAR) are wise and sufficiently able to manage, build and develop a good Hong Kong. These comments were made by Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), during a meeting on Monday with a "Torch Relay" youth delegation from Hong Kong. On July 1, President Hu Jintao visited Hong Kong to mark the 10th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to China. During his stay, Hu expressed the hope that the torch of patriotism would be passed down generation by generation through educating the young people of Hong Kong. Hu's speech has been strongly echoed among the people of Hong Kong, and now young people in Hong Kong are being educated on the issue of national identity, according to Jia, who is also member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Political Bureau. Young people in Hong Kong should be made into a new generation who will abide by "one country, two systems" and the Hong Kong Basic Law, safeguard Hong Kong's prosperity and stability and be responsible for the prosperity of the country and the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Jia urged the HKSAR government to make greater efforts and set a higher target to ensure the smooth operation of the patriotic education campaign. |
