SHENYANG -- Chen Zhenggao was appointed vice and acting governor of northeast China's Liaoning Province on Saturday, according to the provincial legislative body.

Chen, previously Party Secretary of the Shenyang municipal committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), received the post at the 35th session of the standing committee of the 10th Liaoning Provincial People's Congress.

The provincial legislature also approved the resignation of Zhang Wenyue, former governor of Liaoning Province.

He stayed at the school after graduation, working in the university's publicity department and with Youth League. In February 1982, Chen transferred to the city government of Dalian, the Liaoning coastal city, where he started his political path.
