15 killed in hospital blast in Shanxi

Fifteen bodies have been found after a hospital blast early Monday morning in Yuanping, a city in north China's Shanxi Province.

An explosion at a hospital in north China killed at least 15 people early Monday morning, at about 2:25am, according to a Xinhua report.

The blast happened in a garage of the hospital. A five-story building nearby was seriously damaged, with uildings in one kilometer sustaining different damages.

With the progress of the resue efforts, the death toll might rise, Xinhua's report said, without giving the number of injured people in the explosion.

Yang Anhe, director of the provincial public security bureau, and Shanxi Vice Governor Jin Shanzhong rushed to the site to coordinate rescue efforts.

The cause of the explosion is unknown and still under investigation.
