Huang Shengde, in his exposure suit, stands by his duck farm. The 32-year-old owner of the duck farm in Dingdang Town reported the first case of bird flu on Feb. 23, which was confirmed as the first case in the Chinese mainland. Huang said he lost all of his flock of 1,800 ducks and he was confined to the village since the outbreak. The ground near the farm is covered with heavy lime for disinfection. [newsphoto]
