19th CPC National Congress spokesman holds press conference
BEIJING - Tuo Zhen, spokesman for the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, is holding a press conference on Tuesday afternoon at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, briefing the media on the upcoming congress.
The credentials of 2,280 delegates to the 19th CPC National Congress have been approved, Tuo told reporters.
The CPC will amend its constitution at the national congress to represent new governance concepts, thoughts and strategies proposed by the CPC Central Committee with Xi Jinping at its core, Tuo said.
The amendment will include key theories and strategic thoughts presented by a report to be delivered at the congress, according to Tuo.
A preparatory meeting of the national congress has appointed Liu Yunshan as secretary-general of the congress, Tuo said, adding that the agenda for the congress has been set at the preparatory meeting.The five-yearly event will open at 9:00 am Wednesday at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, and conclude on Oct 24, the spokesman said at the press conference.
The press conference started at around 4:30 pm.
