Sept 13, 1971: Lin Biao fled the country and died in Mongolia in plane crash

On September 13, 1971, Lin Biao fled the country and died in Ondor Khan, Mongolia in a plane crash. The collapse of the Lin Biao-led counter-revolutionary group, marked the failure of the "cultural revolution" (1966-76).
