Aug 19, 1964: State Council proposes Third Front program

Aug 19, 1964: On behalf of the State Council, Li Fuchun, Bo Yibo and Luo Ruiqing propose the development of the Third Front in their report to the Communist Party of China Central Committee. The Third Front is a massive development of industry in China's southwestern interior, where it would be strategically secure in the event of a war.

Aug 19, 1978: The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China issues a report on the Red Guards, which is prepared by the preparatory committee of the 10th National Congress of the Communist Youth League of China, demanding that relevant parties "take the work of ending the Red Guard organizations seriously."

Aug 19, 2009: The State Council points out at an executive meeting that small- and medium-sized enterprises are the major power that drives China's economic and social development.

Aug 19, 2010: The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the State Council and the Central Military Commission hold a meeting in Xining to commend heroes of relief work in the Yushu earthquake.
