Kate Moss and Paul McCartney in running for top living UK icon honour

Updated: 2006-11-11 17:30

Supermodel Kate Moss and former 'Beatle' Sir Paul McCartney are among the 10 famous faces to be shortlisted for the UK's top living icon honor.

Apart from Moss, the list includes only two women - singer Kate Bush and fashion designer Dame Vivienne Westwood.

The 32-year-old stunner is reportedly the youngest person in the honor list.

Other names vying for the top position are playwright Alan Bennett, actors Sir Michael Caine and Stephen Fry, and singers David Bowie, Morrissey and Sir David Attenborough.

The names of more than 500 Britons were suggested by the viewers of BBC2 program ‘The Culture Show’, which is launching the search.

"It's a striking list - no Queen, no Maggie, no JK Rowling. Best of all this is a totally open race. Any of the 10 could win," the Daily Mail quoted producer Edward Morgan, as saying.

The winner will be announced on The Culture Show on December 16 after voting closes on November 27. (ANI)
