Nano technology expo opens in east China
NANJING - An expo on nano technology opened Wednesday in east China's Jiangsu province.
The Seventh CHInano Conference and Expo, held in Suzhou city, drew 200 top nano technology experts from 24 countries and regions, as well as 1,000 representatives from enterprises, colleges and research centers from around the world.
"Nano technology is very important to areas such as new energy resources, new materials and bio-medicine," said Shu Wei, secretary of the Secretariat of the China Association for Science and Technology. "I hope that the event will help inspire people to explore the potential offered by the exciting world of nano technology."
Suzhou has more than 260 nano technology teams currently engaged in research and development of this arm of computer science. Last year, nano technology firms in Suzhou Industrial Park generated about 30 billion yuan ($4.4 billion).
"We hope to achieve an output value of more than 100 billion yuan in the industry by 2020," said Suzhou Deputy Mayor Wang Xiang.
The expo will end Friday.
