Shanghai - Two Chinese photovoltaic manufacturers, Astronergy and ENN Solar, will supply solar panels for the largest silicon thin-film project in the United States.

Silicon thin-film photovoltaic (PV) panels convert sunlight directly into electricity, providing environmentally-friendly energy.

Air Products, a gas product provider and owner of the project, plans to use the 2 million-watt solar farm to reduce the company's dependence on purchased electricity and lower its carbon dioxide emissions footprint by approximately 2,000 tons per year.

The 15-acre installation will power more than half of the company's administration buildings at its headquarters in Allentown, Pa.
