The eco-friendly solution helps to reduce pesticide use by 16 percent, according to Bayer experiment reports across China. CHINA DAILY

The company also organized training programs for farmers to introduce knowledge of how to use pesticides safely and responsibly.

By cooperating with local farmers and other companies, Bayer aims to "bring about benefits to not only farmers, but also the food industry chain", Wei said.

She also expects to optimize Bayer's service models to increase confidence of parties involved in land-use right transfers.

"The CITIC model features the use of financial services to power other services including land management, farming technology and orders," said Wu Chaojie, deputy general manager of CITIC's investment banking department. "It is an efficient land resources integration platform."

He said the model prevailed because it served the interests of land-owners, farming contractors and companies with the local government serving as a coordinator. He said contractors were keen to take part because their orders and profit were guaranteed.

Wei Guoping, chairman of Daping Oils& Grains, said the company spent a year researching how to develop agriculture in an industrialized concept to achieve sustainable growth.

He said the model was widely accepted as "97 percent of local villagers that the project covers are willing to entrust their land to the village committee".

"The land trust will have long-term benefits for not only the villagers and land contractors, but also intensive and sustainable agriculture," he said, adding that in the short term the company may face challenges such as limited profit.
