BEIJING -- China's postal industry reaped a business revenue of 97.34 billion yuan ($15.45 billion) in the first half of the year, up 24.4 percent year-on-year, the State Post Bureau said Wednesday.

The postal industry has witnessed rapid progress in the first half, with better structuring and improved enterprise capabilities, said the bureau at a mid-year work conference.

The country's above-scale logistic enterprises made nearly 2.4 billion deliveries in the first half, up 51 percent year-on-year and exceeding the total delivery volume in 2010, according to the bureau.

Business revenue of these logistic enterprises jumped 39.7 percent to 46.82 billion yuan in the January-June period, up 13.2 percentage points from the growth of the same period last year.

That accounted for 48.2 percent of the revenue of the total postal industry, up 5.3 percentage points from a year ago, said the bureau.
